**Zack Patient Undergoes Emergency Lumbar Surgery, Will Miss Upcoming NXL Windy City Tournament**
Team Infamous announces that Zack Patient, a key member of their roster, will be undergoing microdiscectomy surgery on his L4 and L5 vertebrae and will not be participating in the upcoming NXL Chicago tournament.
The microdiscectomy procedure, which is aimed at relieving pressure off the spinal nerves caused by a herniated disc, is expected to be successful, with signs of relief appearing within the first 4 weeks post surgery. Zack’s expected return to full contact is estimated to be within the 12-14 week range.
While Zack will not be competing, he will still be present at the NXL Chicago event managing his role within the Infamous Company as well as taking on a new role as he assists Travis Lemanski with coaching duties. His presence will undoubtedly be a source of motivation and leadership for Team Infamous as they strive for success in Chicago.
The Infamous organization and Zack appreciate the continued support and well-wishes from fans, teammates, and the wider paintball community during this time. Updates on Zack’s recovery will be provided as they become available.
“I began having lower back pain towards the end of last season but mitigated that with a physical therapy protocol - thinking it was just typical soreness from being a front player.
It wasn’t until after Atlantic City where it became so unbearable that I began having trouble walking, then lost feeling in my left leg and ankle due to the nerves becoming pinched. Unfortunately, I pushed it until the wheels literally fell off.
Despite this setback, I look forward to continuing my role at Infamous by meeting with our valued teams, wholesalers, and customers at our booth in Chicago, in addition to helping Travis and the team throughout the tournament. I’ve experienced injuries in the past and am motivated to return again even stronger than before. I bleed Volt”
